The Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) a statutory board functioning within the purview of the Ministry of Science & Technology is a multidisciplinary research institute in Sri Lanka dedicated to the promotion of industrial development through R&D, contract projects, consultancies, training and technical services.
The institute is now being restructured to improve its R&D capacity to support the industrial sector in particular the SMEs and micro enterprises, and to help the nation in expanding its access to global markets by offering R&D services which conform to international quality standards.
In order to expand and enhance the activities of the institute a modern R&D complex at Malambe is envisaged to be established. For the implementation of this project ITI is looking for a dynamic, energetic and resourceful candidate for the post of Project Director (Modern R&D Complex Project).
Applications are invited from citizens of Sri Lanka who possess the necessary requirements/pre-requisites.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in the fields of Engineering, Science, Law, Economics, Commerce, Agriculture, Business Administration, Management, Accounting, or any other relevant field with a minimum of 10 years experience, of which 03 years should be at a senior managerial level.
OR
Bachelor’s degree and a postgraduate qualification (Masters/Diploma) in the relevant field or corporate membership of a recognized professional institution in the relevant field with a minimum of 08 years post qualifying experience at a managerial level.
The candidate should possess an excellent track record in administrative and operational functions, be well versed with government procedures and regulations, have excellent leadership and management capabilities and strong communication and negotiation skills. A positive attitude and the will to ensure that targets and deadlines are met are absolutely vital. The candidate should also have the ability to:
- Plan and implement a project with complex and diverse activities
- Promote stakeholder participation and commitment for effective implementation to ensure long term sustainability of the project
- Effectively organise and lead the work of a multi-disciplinary team
- Analyse and resolve project implementation issues
Purpose of Position
To efficiently manage the Project Management Unit (PMU) and be totally responsible for managing/co-coordinating the complete range of activities during the project cycle from preparation and implementation to completion.

Below 57 years
Salary
Rs. 65,000 to Rs. 80,000 per month (Fixed salary as per DMS 33 Circular dated 05/04/2007)
Terms of Office
The appointments will be on contract for a period of three years subject to a successful performance evaluation at the end of each year.

ITI operates its own Provident Fund Scheme towards which the employees contribute 10% of the gross salary and the institute 15%. A further 3% of the salary will be contributed by the employer to the Employees Trust Fund.
