ITI Celebrates its 60th Anniversary
Industrial Technology Institute celebrated its 60th anniversary on 16th March 2016 at the Water’s Edge with the patronage of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Research.
There were two main events on the day; during the morning session several former CISIR / ITI Directors addressed the staff members of the institute. In the afternoon session H. E. the President Maithreepala Sirisena attended the ITI Awards Ceremony as the Chief Guest. Hon. Minister of Science. Technology and Research Mr. Susil Premajayanth, Minister of Post, Postal Services and Muslim Affairs Hon. H.A.Mohamad Haleem and Deputy Minister of Post, Postal Services and Muslim Affairs Hon. Dulip Wijesekara were also attended the ceremony. During the award ceremony 59 staff members who served CISIR / ITI more than 25 years were appreciated and awarded a gold sovereign. The Best Innovation and the Best Technology Transfer for the past ten years were awarded to Mr. Anura Sooriya Arachchi for his innovation on coir machine and the best technology transfer ‘Designer egg enriched with Omega-3’ by Mr. Samantha Madage, Ms. Sriyani Rajapkse, and Mr. W U D Medis.
The first day cover and the commemoration stamp were issued on the same day and were presented to the President and the Ministers.
H. E. the President was presented with a plaque as a token of appreciation for his presence.
