As the leading provider of Science and Technology (S&T) information to the local scientific community, the Information Services Center (ISC) of the ITI offers many information related services, including an extensive library and an online catalog of all its information. It is one of the few special libraries in the country with its resources open to the interested public. The ISC library houses a valuable collection of books, periodicals and journals, articles, electronic resources and standards.
Lending Services
Books may be borrowed by any registered member. Three types of membership are available.
Individual Membership
Any person with permanent employment in a public sector organization or statutory body is eligible for this type of membership. A standard membership is levied.

Deposit Membership
This type of membership is intended for those who are self employed, students and retired persons, who cannot obtain a organization guarantee. In addition to the standard membership fee, an additional, refundable deposit is levied.

Reference Services
The Centre is open for reference to accredited inquirers during working hours. Photocopying facilities are provided when necessary.
The reference sources are separated in to six main categories.

- Scientific Journal Collection
- Our access to several leading databases allow us to present over 10,000 full text journals
- Sri Lanka collection
- A collection of scientific books , reports, and statistics , relating to Sri Lanka
- ITI Publications
- Contains articles and reports published by ITI scientists. This is a very valuable collection of research carried out at ITI
- Standards and specifications
- A collection of Sri Lankan, Indian, British and International standards guides
- Reprint Collection
- A monumental collection of scientific articles retrievable by subject both in hard copy and electronic form
Inquiry Services
The aim of this service is to provide information on S&T to the general public . We also provide small collections of topic-specific information when needed. Inquiries could be channeled by telephone, in writing or in person. Literature searches are also undertaken for clients from resources available in the library. A modest fee is levied for this service.
For a nominal fee our staff will keep you updated on newly acquired books and journal articles on any subject of interest through the Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) service.

Open Access Catalogue
The entire catalogue of the Centre is available to the public through the Institute’s website, iti.lk. New books and journal articles can also be viewed through the website. Members are given additional facilities to extend, reserve or clarify their loan status through the web.
Electronic Resources
Full text articles can be accessed through our links with Science Direct, Ebsco, Blackwell Publishers and Directory of Open Access Journals, while our Delnet and Export Development Board databases permit access to medical Journals & US Patents and export/Import Statistics at our centre.

Other than these, the ISC puts together another compilation the News Digest, which carries all the S&T news published in leading daily newspapers in Sri Lanka.
Service Hours
The Centre is open to the interested public from 8.30 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. on week days and 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on Saturdays.
