Environment Technology

The Environment Technology laboratories play a key role in pollution control in Sri Lanka. Apart from being a trusted advisor to the Sri Lankan Government on policy regarding sustainable development activities, and a registered consultant of the Central Environment Authority (CEA) in Sri Lanka, the Environment Technology Section is the leading provider of Best Practicable Technology (BPT) for local industries. The section leads the way in providing innovative and effective solutions to environmental and industrial pollution problems within the country.

The team undertakes turnkey contracts for implementation of wastewater treatment plants and air pollution control systems for industries. Engineers provide consultancy services on a range of environmental areas including industrial ventilation, industrial pollution control, environmental management systems, cleaner production etc. Customized services for trouble shooting are also provided in existing systems. Research Engineers also engage in sponsored environment related research and development projects, and undertake Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) and Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) for new industrial projects.
