More than 50% of the world is infected with H.pylori, the main causative organism for gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric cancers or mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (malt) lymphoma. In Sri Lanka a few studies show that the prevalence is around 70.1% (n=57 subjects). An alternative solution to this problem is the treatment with Probiotic that include various Lactobaccilli strains that shows antibacterial activity against H.pylori. This project aims to formulate probiotic foods that will demonstrate antagonistic activity against H.pylori using indigenous raw materials. The raw material combination includes cereals, pulses, coconut milk and cow’s milk.
