The Materials Laboratory (ML) of the ITI serves the local industry by providing testing and quality assurance services for raw materials and products.
The unit’s state of the art equipment and experienced staff line-up equips the lab to carryout physical, mechanical and chemical tests that grade materials against the most stringent national and international standards.
In addition to these tests, the laboratory also takes on product development and consultancy services in the materials field. The ML trains technical personnel in the preservation of timber, bamboo and cane, the bleaching of surgical gauze, and equips trainees for testing building materials.
This laboratory also provides consultancy services including concrete mix design.
