China’s Yunnan Province to support establishment of certified Organic Products Laboratory in Eastern Province

Mar 13, Colombo: China’s Yunnan Province has agreed to provide full support for the ISO 17025 certified Organic Products Laboratory which is being built for the first time, in the Kantale area based on a concept of Eastern Province Governor Mrs. Anuradha Yahampath, with the intervention of the Institute of Industrial Technology.
A special discussion for the project was held yesterday (12) at the Governor’s office in Trincomalee under the chairmanship of Mr. Ma Su Shin, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Relations Office of Yunnan Province and the governor.
During the discussion, it was also decided to give an international status certificate to the seed research of the organic product quality laboratory. This is the first time that a research laboratory that provides such an international level status certificate is being built in the country.
The relevant agreements between the Governor of Yunnan Province and the Governor of Eastern Province are scheduled to be reached in May.
According to the agreement, the work of the research laboratory will be carried out in 02 phases and under the first phase, soil, seeds, water and fertilizers will be tested. Under the second stage, the tests are done to obtain an international status certificate.
