Microbiology

In 2002 Microbiology Laboratory was awarded international accreditation (ISO 17025) from SWEDAC and we are the first internationally accredited Microbiological Laboratory in Sri Lanka. In 2007 we were accredited by Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB), at present microbiological laboratory is accredited for 35 different matrices for 132 parameters. As per our mission to provide internationally competitive technical services leading Sri Lanka in terms of Newly Industrialized Country status (NIC) year by year expand the scope of accreditation.

The Laboratory is equipped with biosafety level 2 facilities to enhance capabilities for meet the growing demand. Laboratory is majorly involved in technical services including testing, quality assurance, conducting training programmes for third party organizations and individuals, providing consultancy services to public and private sector entrepreneurs and addressing the national issues. 

Our capabilities

We provide a broad range of testing services including water, ice, food, beverages, agricultural products, raw materials, herbal products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices & health care products, fertilizer, sanitizers, disinfectants, aviation fuel, food packaging materials, cosmetic & personal care products, collection of Samples etc. according to ISO, SLS, IS, EU, ASTM, APHA, BP guidelines and other international standards.
